I actually don't mind this kind of talk... as long as it's relevant. Like the creators are in support of fascism it makes sense to talk about. If the actors are defending or denying genocides it makes sense to talk about. If a singer is saying vaccines cause autism it's relevant on that singers forums. It is not in fact off topic.

I agree randomly bringing up unrelated things is annoying when it isn't that sort of thing though.

Yeah, I think the things you list make it relevant, but also not what the secret is talking about. I'll be going along in one of my fandoms, where nothing like that is going on and someone will try to "win" an argument by screaming about how it's all just fandom and not the REAL WORLD where people are SUFFERING and DYING and we're all stupid blinkered sheep unlike them. And also the "I'm a [marginalised identity/ies] so I can't just switch off like you can, give me money or I'll DIE and it will be YOUR FAULT."
