Yeah, that's the weird part about the secret which people are pointing out. Diaper kink and ABDL stuff is absolutely a kink, and should be tagged. But the age regression trope is not always that?

Sorry, I'm not going to spend the time to look for specific fic links for this thread, but off the top of my head I can remember reading ones that are like, an adult gets memory loss and regresses to their teen years, or before big events in their life, and they had nothing to do with diapers or kink

Maybe to find the non-kink ones, you have to look for +amnesia or memory loss? Because most of them involved that kind of thing. But the characters definitely thought they were teens and had no memory of being an adult

nayrt and yeah, I definitely remember seeing lots of fics like that (and actual de-aging fics) in various fandoms over the years. The basic premise was always just "[Character] is now suddenly physically/mentally a child, what will the rest of the cast do??" and nine times out of ten it was written for humor value, absolutely nothing kinky or sexual involved.

I get what you're saying, I guess that wouldn't be a kink, but it still needs to be tagged. Especially if it's the plot! If someone's looking for a memloss or regression for angst and plot, they'd want it tagged so they can find that sweet, sweet angst fic.

Have I said don't tag it? All I said is it's not always a kink, because people keep saying 'it needs to be tagged because it's always a kink even if people deny it.' It's not. Tag it anyway. Tag tropes. But it's not always a kink.

i think maybe the secret maker wasn't sure what terminology to use and settled on age regression when they meant infantilization/diaper kink.

Nope. Age regression is the one. It can all be overlap and confusing if you are not into it or haven't encountered it.
