Cool? I said nothing about tags, only that it's not always a kink.

I can see it just being a plot point if a character is hit by a spell (or a car, or encounters some trauma remembering their mom dying in front of them) and thinks they're eight, or something. I get that not being sexual and just a thing that happens.

But I would tag that for what it is.

Yeah, exactly. Tag that too, sure. The only thing I'm saying is it's not always kink.

AYRT

You responded to a comment saying that such things should be tagged, which makes it come across as if you're talking about tagging such things.

"Also yes just because it isn't during a sex scene doesn't mean it's not a kink. It's still a kink. But even if the writer doesn't want to admit it, they still gotta tag it because it's relevant to the fic."

That was the part where it was like hmmm I think their squicks are driving their logic. Sometimes it simply isn't a kink.

Tag your tropes too, though, sure, because tropes being tagged is good. :)

I was mostly viewing it through the secret OP's description of surprise untagged squick. I genuinely hadn't heard of memloss type plot tropes, I guess that doesn't happen in any of my fandoms. I'll give you that there's a broader description of these types of tropes or plots in fic so here's an extra paragraph to explain what I flippantly tossed out as a single sentence before dinner.
