literally all I can think about is Bette Middler doing Rose's Turn when I hear that name. Is that her mom? Because if so, why is Travis having her approval a red flag? Or is that his mom and I read the whole thing wrong? The structure of the secret has me leaning toward Taylor's mother but I really don't understand the equating of her approval with the things that are bad about him unless she has a history of approving of Taylor's worst romances.

I am a filthy casual, I hear about her from lovers and haters alike, and I'll be real honest, 99% of the songs of hers I like I heard covers in different styles first-- mostly Postmodern Jukebox but also a Mildred Snitzer Orchestra cover of Lover, and some guy doing a cover of Shake it Off that's quite different from the original.

That song is actually what it refers to. It is from the musical Gypsy, and Rose is the mother. She is kind of an ultra "showbiz mom" and not in a good way.

It is a really great movie and play!

DA Is the secret referring to Taylor's actual mother or Travis's actual mother or someone else entirely?
