I imagined Murderbot as brunette and feminine, certainly not as Alexander Skarsgård

I always sort of pictured it as vaguely Southeast Asian and butch, but I don't even think Skarsgård pictured Murderbot as Skarsgård.

I don’t imagine faces all that sharply, but I had in mind someone broad-shouldered, androgynous, and of some sort of “ambiguous mixed ethnicity”. (So probably brown hair and tan-to-brown skin? But of course there are lots of ways to be both androgynous and mixed race/ethnicity.)

In my dream version, they’d cast a solidly-built mixed-race woman and go very butch with the hair and makeup.

I actually think this is more what the author intended. She posted a picture of Murderbot with brown skin, and the book was pretty explicit that it does not have a sex or gender.

I imagined it as a Bot from The Sims 4.

My head version while reading and my dream casting are different, which amuses me because why brain? But anyway I wanted Gwendolime Christie to play Murderbot. I think she could have given the perfect dry delivery and incredulous looks amd been a big beefy genderless murder machine.

I'll admit Skarsgård isn't what I imagined either, but the tv series having SecUnit played by the only white actor of the main cast to depict its isolation from the humans its protecting was an interesting choice.

I see MB as brown and NB and def shorter than Skarsgaard. But that's okay, I can still see MB that way when I read the books. The TV show is something different.

Tv show is TV show and books are books, they are different beasts. But I really don't understand where people get femme from a security constract. This makes no sense to me at all.

I just really don't care as long as the actor is good, and I think Alexander does a fantastic job. I guess I pictured Murderbot as just a bland-looking average person and not particularly handsome or pretty, though. Maybe like Arthur Darvill or Michael Cera.
