I felt similarly with Jewel and her MAHA bullshit. Didn't see it coming; she seemed okay in interviews even five or so years ago. But what I didn't know is that she'd gotten into the antivaxxer movement, and well, the pipeline to the alt right is real. (Some might say "she also turned country so that was a clue" but I don't automatically assume politics from genre.) I hoped she would learn her lesson after the backlash she received after performing at Inauguration Day for Ser Brain Worm, but apparently she showed up to Bezos' wedding so I guess she decided her "north star" was in hell indefinitely.

I've got her albums in a bag somewhere, just debating whether I want to pawn/trade them in somewhere or just toss them in the garbage.

Ugh yeah, Jewel hurt. Like, teen me got a lot of feelings out listening to her music back in the day, but the crunchy to alt right pipeline is real...

I definitely don't associate all country music with the right, but then, the country artists I've listened to most have been Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, Dolly Parton, and the Chicks, so... yeah, that alone would not have been a red flag to me!

Ugh yeah as a tween/teen, I really liked Jewel because her music felt like "your older sister's artsy friend", and I appreciated her stance in not getting her teeth straightened out. But...yeah, aligning in any way with or taking money from the Trump administration and anyone associated with them is an instant shut the door on that shit stain.
