Why would stans? Why isn't it enough for them for someone to be neutral on the thing? Why do they have to love it? How does this make stans different from scientologists?

By your logic, stans *are* absolutely more annoying as a group. They're aggressive if you dislike the thing and they're also aggressive if you're neutral about the thing. And in many cases, they're also aggressive if you like the thing, but don't like it in the way they deem most appropriate.

Haters are only aggressive if you like the thing.

I guess, from my experience, stans are aggressive and obnoxious about the thing itself and just can't fathom anyone else not feeling the same way as they do about it, while haters make personal attacks on people because they see them as personally and morally corrupt for liking a thing.

With stans, the annoyingness falls under the mostly-benign category of "we get it, you like the thing, now for the love of god, shut up about it"... while haters fall into the category of "please don't doxx me for showing a passing interest in a fictional thing that you've decided is akin to real-life criminality".

DA

Have you ever seen two stans like the exact same thing, but disagree with how it should be liked? The top/bottom wars between people of the same exact ship? They become each others haters lol

"And in many cases, they're also aggressive if you like the thing, but don't like it in the way they deem most appropriate."

This is what frustrates me personally the most about stans. Stans, the obsessive fans, not just regular fans. You can be a fan of the same thing, but if you don't like it the same way they do, or if there's something about it you DON'T like, or if you would change something, or if you don't think that it's absoluely perfect in every single way, they often get mad about it. It's not OK to just like the thing, you have to LOVE EVERYTHING ABOUT IT, or else they're going to rip into you. THAT is what bugs me the most about stans.

"Stans, the obsessive fans, not just regular fans"

Yes. Again, louder, for people in the back.
