Different experiences I guess. Because a lot of my experiences in fandom have been antis/haters infiltrating fan spaces and talking a bunch of shit just to upset. And when people try to steer them to places where they can hate in peace they have hissy fits about free speech and/or true fandoming means they can piss all over the place because forced niceties ruin fandom, as if fandom can only be legit if we allow a certain person/group to bully everyone else. I get the whole "no negative talk" forced niceness in fandoms are actually miserable to be in, but just letting people ruin others' enjoyment isn't better or different.
I prefer both parties understanding where they diverge and respecting each other's spaces, but it seems people want others to get in line and not have to be considerate of others.
So *shrug*

If all those precious little antis would actually stay away from all the stuff they dump on their DNIs, fandom would be much more chill. But no, they intentionally have to seek it out and interact with it and then cry about others not respecting their DNI when they were the ones to start interacting in the first place.
