Re: Stans and haters

a lot of Hazbin Haters , in my experience, have made hating Hazbin half their personality.

Hmm... stans well it can depend some different sub communities have weird stan subcultures

I remember as a teenager when i was a passive part of the Danny Phantom OC maker community some of those folks .... had become so overdefensive that they considered it ripping off their OC if another OC had ONE thing in common with theirs. Like sorry babe if your character's hobby defines them so much that anyone else having that same hobby is "not allowed"... you might wanna expand that OC a bit . Maybe give them an extra dimension or two to balance it out.

But then also- this being 2000s fandom- the OC haters in 2000s fandom were so intense that I could understand why so many of these OC creators were SO damn defensive. Feeling regularly on attack from insults, random slights and casual mockery and aspersions to your character/sanity/mental state in a place where you're just trying to have a little fun - ESPECIALLY as a teenager and one with stress in other areas- well that does tend to build up to a bit of an unhealthy level of hyper defensiveness to feeling attacked.

So tbh sometimes i feel like a lot of vocal persistent haters in a community who can't stay the fuck in their damn lane and leave people alone.. well it can create some really defensive fans as a result. If fans are used to being mocked the moment they MENTION their interest (or in some places/on some sites, when a weirdo freak looks through their post history to find out what they like to mock them about) .... well they're not gonna respond well psychologically. So.yeah..

I was pretty keyed up and defensive about things i loved as I'm SURE y'all know about me..ehehe.. but I was a kid with a lot of school stress, struggling with social skills and in a few fandom subcultures that got me mocked a LOT. So nowadays I try to think about a person's circumstances for weird fan behavior before labeling them a stan.

Granted when they regularly harass other fans for things or in ways they themselves suffered-like some OC fans I saw become a LOT meaner to other OC creators because they suddenly decided people who bullied them were correct to because they were 'cringe' and do the VERY same thing to other young fans... my good graces dry up a bit.
