It's weird, because most people can agree on what makes a Stan, but "Hater" means anything from "My life is dedicated to making sure that everyone knows how terrible this property is" to "I don't care for this popular ship/headcanon," depending on the fandom. In my experience, most haters fall somewhere in the middle. Whatever they're hating on is important enough to them that if it comes up, they're going to give you the whole spiel on why they hate it, but that's about it. Which, you know, whatever. We're allowed to like different things.

On the other hand, Stans, by definition, will not abide by the philosophy that we're allowed to like different things.

Some fandoms seem to naturally draws those antis that are basically mirror-verse stans. If you're in one of those fandoms, then you're obviously going to think OP is nuts. On the other hand, stans accuse anyone who isn't a stan of being that kind of hater, so we've got ourselves a bit of a conundrum.

Hmmm I'd say all antis are haters, but not all haters are antis. Antis are the extreme form of hater that has made 'being a hater of their thing' into their identity, but the average hater isn't an anti. There are definitely mild-er haters, comparatively

Stan has a deliberate definition because it is literally based on the character from Eminem's Stan. (be warned it's the long version but radioifyed)

Haters don't have that kind of example. But I'd say it's anyone who dislikes something enough to have a problem with anyone who likes that same thing by default. Not anyone who dislikes any one pairing/headcanon, unless they make it YOUR problem that isn't a hater in my eyes.
Though, I was thinking the same thing, about what constituted a Stan or Hater, since it can vary per fandom more or less, but at the end of the day, even Stans can be haters in their own way. (lol, this is a mess)

DA Stans can definitely also be haters if they're stans of rival things... or even seemingly rival things that aren't rival things, that they decided are rivals. It gets muddy
