What are your favorite "marketed toward women" games? Do you have any?

Not sure what is marketed to women. But I used to really love Sims 2. I made fandom characters in the game and had fun with it. Eventually got bored, but for a while I was really obsessed.

Sims 2 is still the best Sims game they've ever made.

I like all of the Dream Day Wedding games and Jojo's Fashion Show games.

I think Luxuria Superbia is aimed at specifically sapphic women and I really liked playing that for a while. (Mostly while high, it’s more like an odd erotic mediation than an actual game.)

Love Nikki! It's just a cute phone game that makes it easy to be f2p and has updates as often as from when it first started even though it's older now.

I still love Stardew Valley

Me too <3 Honestly, it's so beloved for a reason. It's just so well-done. I've played newer games that are similar to it, and every singe time I've thought, why am I playing this when it's like SDV but not as good?

Every game that has come out since it launched the "cozy farming" subgenre has just not been as good. There are continuous free updates, the creator listens, and it's beloved for a reason.

Speaking of updates I think we're getting one where we can marry Sandy and Clint. I know which one I'll be picking...

There was this copy and paste from reddit a few years ago where this gatekeeping dickhead goes on a rant about how "girls can't be real gamer" and "you're not a real gamer if you like these games" and it's literally just a list of all the games I like. Look, mate, I'm sorry if I have anxiety and I don't derive joy from feeling like my skeleton is about to jump out of me skin and I don't mind a little grind to get a goal met in a way that doesn't involve a military grade weapon. I'm just a weakling, leave me alone (˃̣̣̥ᯅ˂̣̣̥)

Animal Crossing (I could argue it's marketed to everyone but it IS one of the games my mom plays), the Sims games... I really loved those games where you ran a fashion boutique and I got so excited when they had a new one and you could be a guy in it and then it was okay, like... some people HATED it, I thought it was fine, but it wasn't as good as the ones on the DS.

I'm a man who plays a lot of cozy games and some of them I see as gender neutral (and of course the old school farming games were aimed at male players more than female players, until they brought in the option to have a female avatar, marry bachelors as well as bachelorettes, etc) but I certainly can't argue that the fashion games are GIRLY. Sometimes I just get the powerful urge to run my own fashion boutique, though, what can I say?

Does AC Odyssey count?

It was sort of marketed towards women just on account of the first game in the series where you could choose to play as a female character. It is one of my all time favorite games.

I enjoyed a few cozy games like Stardew or Animal Crossing but never really got too into them. I do think they're super cute though

Well, there is Syndicate? ntm, Liberation?
I wouldn't say it's marketed towards woman, but rather it doesn't exclude them from marketing. The creators wanted a female lead for a while, Aya was supposed to be the main character, not Bayek, but they got nixed. Kassandra was meant to be the only lead as well, but they were forced to add the brother to play as well.

AC has always been fairly gender neutral for the most part, I feel. lol, the opening load sequence loves to say how their games are made by people of multiple genders and beliefs after all.

I would def not agree that AC has been gender neutral at all.

I played as Alexios, all stupid himbo all the time. I'm only now finding out in Shadows that Cassandra is CANON?? then why let me play as Alexios at all?? fuck you, AssCreed!

(no, it doesn't count, sorry nonny)

ayrt
I tried to do a second playthrough as Alexios and couldn't get past his truly awful voice acting lol. The wooden dialog actually worked for the less screen time and badguy role but not so much for full time.

Right now it's LaDS and has been for the last year. Other than that, I do one of those tap away games and a colouring "game".

Shining Nikki, because it's just soooo pretty. And Starry Love because I am honestly hooked on the storyline haha but it is also pretty.

I like dress up games in general tbh
