I wish they hired more bulkier women in these types of roles. I like how I can see muscle definition here, but most of the time the MC looks like they could be snapped like a toothpick.

In this case they were trying to match Linda Hamilton in Terminator 2, and Lena Headey in the show is definitely more muscular than in this particular image.

DA - Seconding this.

Also, the show did a pretty good job of making her badassery believable, in that it was less about physical strength and more about other factors. Sarah tended to respond very decisively in dangerous situations. She was always primed for danger, and when shit went sideways, she didn't dally. She responded immediately to get them out of the situation, even if it meant going out a second story window, laying down a motorcycle into a guy, leaping at someone's knees, etc. She was resourceful, hypervigilant, good at risk assessment and snap judgements, etc.

It would've been unethical to ask an actress to have Linda Hamilton's physical composition for the role, because maintaining that for any length of time is unhealthy for the vast majority of women.

It would have been cool if Leena had added a bit more muscle for the role, I can't disagree with that, but at the end of the day, I really loved how Leena played the character, and that's more important to me that her muscles. Especially since the threat Sarah and John were trying to evade was one they had zero hope of being able to take in a fight no matter how physically strong they were. They had to be fit so that they could escape as quickly as possible in the case of danger. Yeah, being able to handle any human threats that might come at them was a good thing, but their whole MO was basically "Don't end up in danger, and if you do, get out asap." So it isn't even that much of an issue that neither of them was particularly jacked. They were both lean in a way that suited the life they were living I think, and Leena did look really toned, she just didn't have much size to her.

It's true Lena Headey didn't have a large, muscular build, but IIRC she was wiry and never gave the impression of being physically weak. She really did justice to the role in a way that Emilia Clarke... well, she seems nice, but no way was she on the same level as Linda Hamilton and Lena Headey.
