The translation of the African language (don't know exactly which one) in the opening of The Lion King's "Circle of Life" is apparently "There's a lion! Oh my god!"

So I saw this but apparently the guy who did the translation is not a native speaker and is translating it too literally. Native speakers have been kind if tearing him down.

the original Zulu lyrics to the song "the Lion Sleeps Tonight" was based on actually refer to sneaking up on lions in order to kill and eat them....

I always chose that song in the diner jukebox as a kid because I loved lions. I never knew it was based on a Zulu song. I'm glad child me didn't know what the original was about because I probably would have never picked it again and cried if it started playing because someone else did.
