Because it's a safe bet. But if it doesn't make huge racks of cash, studios stop investing in women's media. It's really fucking stupid. Can't "take risks" on old literary works because what if not enough people know of it and it doesn't make a lot of money? Then invest in the same 5 titles by the same 3 authors, and then deem works by/for women don't have enough interest to garner money because no one wants another P&P adaptation in the last 30 years. So studios decide that investing in media that women like isn't worth it because the returns on investment just doesn't garner any interest.
As if those fucks don't do it on purpose.
