Restless Leg Syndrome

(Anonymous) 2026-03-04 03:21 am (UTC)(link)
Anyone else deal with this? I have throughout my life but it wasn't every night or anything. I'm on a new medication and one of the side effects is RLS and now every night I wake up with my legs driving me nuts. I have a follow up with my dr and I'm going to mention it but until then, I suffer.

Are you underweight?

Yeah, I dealt with this on occasion, at least I think? I've heard weighted blankets could help? I love the blanket I have, but I don't experience RLS often enough to know if it helps for that specifically. I hope your symptoms clear up soon or your doctor has an alternative/solution that'll fix it up fast!

I'm glad you are waiting for your docs input though. I know wayy too many people who will drop their medication at any symptom, even mild ones that might not even be a result of the med, and declare them useless. smh.

IDK what it would've been diagnosed as, if anything, but I definitely developed something that seemed a whole lot like RLS for several months, after I first started weight training regularly. It was driving me crazy and really disrupting my sleep.

In my case, what helped was that I bought a sandbag, taped the hell out of it with duct tape (so it wouldn't leak sand into my bed) and put it at the foot of my bed where I could push my feet against it as I was falling asleep. It wasn't a perfect solution but it really did help quite a lot.

IDK if that kind of thing would work with actual verified, chronic RLS, but I'm just putting it out there.

My nephew had RLS pretty bad and he ended up taking magnesium supplements which basically took care of the problem. Try it?

I fixed it by cutting out carbs for an hour or two before bed, but I don't know if that would work if it's medication-caused.

Yeah I stop eating or drinking by 6pm and go to bed around 9pm and it doesn't help sadly. It has helped with the waking up through the night so I'll take that win.
