Love the image. Disagree with the secret.

Gee how original. Nobody who prefers shows without sex scenes or complains about certain shows sex scenes has ever been called a prude before. Wild.

A hit dog will holler

Eh, I'm of two minds on this one. I haven't seen the show yet, but I've seen gifs of some of the sex scenes and they look well choreographed and acted. Most shows either don't have any sex scenes or the sex scenes are het, so people complaining specifically about the Heated Rivalry sex scenes do seem prudish or something.

But I personally find almost all tv/movie het sex boring AF, so I can easily imagine people who aren't prudish or whatever finding the sex in Heated Rivalry boring as well (even if I think they're wrong).

Yep! It’s like complaining about battle scenes in an MCU movie.

(Anonymous) 2026-03-09 11:27 pm (UTC)(link)
Seems like a poor comparison.

I’m not arguing one way or the other, but I’d be curious why you think so.

I think there’s a fair amount of parallel in how they operate as genre requirements and their relationship to character and plot.

I won't harshly judge if someone doesn't like sex scenes in something (I will just disagree with them). I WILL harshly judge if someone chooses to watch something that is FAMOUSLY KNOWN to have explicit sex scenes and THEN complain about them.

Yeah, I think “prude” also carries the implication that the person thinks sexy things are morally bad at some level. Not just having a squeamishness for sex.

But maybe I’m just projecting how I wish the word was used more often.

SAME. It's so weird to me that people watch the famously sexy, gay show and complain about the sex.

(we need unapologetic gay sex in shows now more than ever ahaha)

(Anonymous) 2026-03-09 11:44 pm (UTC)(link)
Agreed for the simple fact that the sex is actually an important part of the character/relationship development. There are plenty of shows that have gratuitous sex scenes; this is not one of them.

(Anonymous) 2026-03-10 02:46 am (UTC)(link)
This is it for me, too. Plenty of things have gratuitous sex scenes I find tiresome, but the sex scenes in Heated Rivalry feel integral to the story. (Insert "load-bearing sex scenes" joke here.) It's ok if someone doesn't like them, but IDK how valid it is to claim to like the story and then say, "Except for the sex scenes." Feels like saying, "I like what the show could be if it were focused on different things and had different narrative priorities."

I don't necessarily agree that someone is a prude for complaining about the sex scenes, but it does feel like a case of, just because you dislike it doesn't mean it's a flaw; some things just aren't for you.

(Anonymous) 2026-03-10 04:29 am (UTC)(link)
Exactly. I totally get being annoyed by gratuitous sex scenes because I'm firmly of the belief that if you can take something out without it affecting the story or the characterization in any way, it shouldn't be there in the first place. That isn't the case for the sex scenes in Heated Rivalry.

It's like being upset that, IDK, Saving Private Ryan has violence. The violence/sex is there for a reason; it's part of the story and if you're not comfortable with that then this thing just isn't for you, like you said.

It's like complaining about dance scenes in a musical. Shut the fuck up and go enjoy the 99.9% of media that doesn't have tons of sex scenes.

You're not interesting, just move on.

(Anonymous) 2026-03-10 12:50 am (UTC)(link)
I'm just not into men *shrug*

(Anonymous) 2026-03-10 06:27 am (UTC)(link)
Then why would you be watching a show that is clearly centered around gay relationships? That's like complaining that a scifi show is set in space or a crime show has murders in it.

(Anonymous) 2026-03-10 06:07 am (UTC)(link)
You are very dumb.
