I miss the acceptance of fandom. Now it’s known in the wider world and judgement came with that knowledge. It shows in the art, the fics, and on social media.
I just want to enjoy my fandom, damnit!

I feel like one particular aspect of true crime content is misunderstood by people who dislike it - that attention on specific cases or mysteries are often welcomed by the victim's friends and families.

Why? Because when an investigation is ongoing or has gone cold, raising awareness about it can make a huge difference. That's why rewards are offered for info, that's why billboards are put up, that's why families agree to be interviewed for TV, documentaries or podcasts about this awful thing that happened. They know that bringing attention to it might be the key to solving it and finding justice for their loved ones.

The new Wuthering Heights feels and looks a lot like it was primarily made for and marketed to the ~dark romantasy~ booktok girlies.

I very much enjoy Bridgerton, it’s a fun, tropey, smutty romp. But the classical renditions of pop songs drive me up the wall.

Not because they’re pop music turned classical, but because so many of the chosen songs do not match the context of the on-screen situation! It’s like the people choosing them are not LISTENING to the lyrics and are going on pure tune and it drives me mad.

Yeah, every family must hope they can be the next In Your Own Backyard or season 2 of In The Dark.

That reminds me of an episode of Supergirl where they had Take Me To Church playing in the background during a scene between Kara and Alex and they were having, you know, a familial conversation. Not a sexy conversation. Completely took me out of the scene.

Oh no. I was going to watch this, but that might drive me nuts!

But not Gumshoos?

Well... if Trevor is doing the judging, I don't mind so much. Everyone else though, yeah, they're just gonna have to deal because I'm shipping what I want.

Yeah, I think they 100% are going for the melodies, because the lyrics aren't there in-universe! It absolutely works for me and I enjoy the arrangements.

I think a lot of people don't listen to lyrics at all, in general.

Think of how many people end up going "wait this song was about what???" over extremely obvious songs

If the victim's friends and families could choose this, then yeah, I would agree. And I know there are (and always have been) some creators who do in fact focus on that. But that's by FAR not the majority, especially as the most "popular" crimes are generally ones that are getting attention anyway because the victim fits a particular profile.

Cats are very good at judging humans.
