Tumblr is still my favorite fandom space. I know it depends on the fandom, but for my main fandom Tumblr has always been the healthiest, friendliest, best place to be.

Same. I feel so spoiled TBH.

There's been some drama, but nowhere near the levels I've seen or heard about elsewhere.

As a long time tumblr resident (circa 2011-2012), I feel this. I ain't getting out of this chair.

For my fandoms, Tumblr at its height was fucking awful (about 2012-2015). I stayed away from it because it was just constant attacks and screaming. But around 2018 I checked it out again, and the loudest screamers had all gone to Twitter for more "engagement" (which is all they wanted in the first place) and since then it's actually been great.

+1000 for my fandoms as well.

2012-2015 was the time of Homestuck and Superwholock so that checks

AYRT I was not in any of those fandoms and yet they leaked everywhere! And so did the behaviour.

MCU fandom was awful on tumblr after about 2014.

I've never entirely clicked with tumblr (I'm an Old who misses LJ), but in terms of the current available fandom platforms, it's definitely still easily my favorite.

Reddit is too segmented and often too bro-y for me, as someone who enjoys conversations about canon but who mostly wants to talk about shipping and fanfic and headcanons and such.

I've literally never used Twitter, even back when it was actually cool, but based on my rudimentary understanding of platform mechanics, I can't imagine feeling particularly well-served by it.

And Discord is too social for me. I'm not actually super anti-social (believe it or not), and I would happily go to a RL get-together with fellow mutuals, if it were possible. But that kind of social fannishness that's more about socializing than about the thing I'm fannish about isn't really what I desire from online fandom.

Discord can be exhausting! Like, don’t you people have lives?! I had to turn off notifications entirely and I just dip in to read periodically. It is nonstop in all three of my fandom servers. There’s never more than a few minutes without someone posting something. Usually it’s 2-4 people just chatting endlessly and I always miss any discussions I’d actually join.

Absolutely. I have a hard time getting into discord because so often it's just constant posts and it's too much for me to keep up with. I honestly don't want to be that connected, lol. And I always feel a little awkward jumping into a situation where there's already a bunch of people chatting and it feels like I'm butting in.
