Tumblr is still my favorite fandom space. I know it depends on the fandom, but for my main fandom Tumblr has always been the healthiest, friendliest, best place to be.

"It is just bad writing I hate" People say as if there wasn't plenty of bad writing in the things we're all nostalgic over. When you only make that complaint towards new things that happen to have more POCs, women, and LGBTQ characters and not towards anything else, I really don't buy it.

Fandom has collectively become the "not in my backyard" old people shaking fists at the universe. They hate on new media in their fandom that isn't identical to what came before. But they also hate on full on new media. What they want is for nothing new to be made and all young people to only get to watch the old media they love. We've become what our parents were about music when we were growing up.

I honestly think Star Trek (and Star Wars and Doctor Who) fans these days just want to hate anything new. I didn't love Discovery, though I didn't loath it. I get some of the hate. But Starfleet Academy is good. Genuinely good. Up to par with old Trek good. I think some people either didn't watch or only watched the first episode.

B!S: It took TNG 3 seasons to get good. 1 and 2 were terrible.

I hate how after the first season of 911, Buck's storylines have since always involved learning about himself or learning to love himself. He's still arrogant, still thinks he knows better than everyone, but the show never has him face consequences. Everyone else has had consequences, has learned and grown. Except him. Because I guess he's just awesome and doesn't need to change.

All the calls for Cavill to take over Aragorn in the new movies is pissing me off. I think Cavill is overrated, but there are roles he was suited to. But Aragorn is an extremely emotional man who doesn't hide his emotions. Cavill never shows any emotion in any of his roles. Sure he's popular and may look physically the part. But he's wrong for the role and if they cast him I will be furious.

I love farming sim games, but every time I start to play a new one, I feel like I should just go back and finish Stardew Valley. I want to complete it before I really start investing time in another one. But I keep buying more new ones when I catch them on sale, and then I play them for a few minutes, or not at all, because the "go and finish SDV" guilt stops me from spending time on it.

Eh. It's not that bad writing in other areas don't bother me, but as a non-POC who really wants to see, for example, more non-western fantasy... it's aggravating to find a piece of media that sounds promising and exactly what you wanted with a great concept but the writing is just underwhelming.

Same. I feel so spoiled TBH.

There's been some drama, but nowhere near the levels I've seen or heard about elsewhere.
