Jared Leto as the Joker. Keanu Reaves in Bram Stoker's Dracula. Great movie, but he's awful.

Jesse Eisenberg in Batman v. Superman. Almost everyone in that movie really.

Hugo Weaving as Elrond. Elijah Wood as Frodo too, though not quite as much as Weaving. Gimli had issues, but that was the writing and I think he could have pulled off a book-faithful version.

I really like Keanu Reeves as a human being and enjoy performances when he acts within his range, but he's NOT Oscars caliber, I'm sorry.

Someone older. Frodo's age in the books was the same age as Bilbo in the Hobbit. He was fine, I do love him. I just would have gone with someone a little older, closer to middle aged.

Frodo had had the Ring since his coming of age, though - 21 in human terms. His age wasn't off. But he should have been more mature mentally, or so I feel. Less of a wide-eyed ingenue.

In the books, there is a time jump. The age in the movie was accurate only to to the very beginning. By the time they actually set off on the journey, he's 50, which would be like 30ish for humans (hobbits age slower).

The movies have him as the youngest whereas in the books, Pippin is the youngest.

I do think at least the movie version implies that being in possession of the ring also makes you age slower. Not book canon though afair.
