I cannot stand Stephenie Meyer's writing!

I think her prose is shallow, and sometimes so incomprehensible that I had to read lines and entire paragraphs twice to make any sense of them. But one thing I do give Meyer a lot of credit for is her character lore and world-building. There are what amount to flavor texts in the Twilight books that are so interesting they could be stand-alone stories. The worst part is I'm not entirely sure Meyer knows it!

The reason for my tangent?

The main plots and characters in Yarros's books are less interesting, less exciting than every side-plot and backstory in Twilight.

Yeah, Meyer at least managed to make her characters feel like separate people.
