When I say I never liked Zutara, people assume I liked Kataang instead. Nah, dude, Zukaang was where it was at. The dragons, the parallel goals, the Roku/Sozin flashback!

(Katara needed some time to be single and not responsible for someone else for a while, she's earned it)

For me it is Sokka, Zuko/Older Men, then Zukaang. I've been following a great Zukaang fic for two years now.

I didn't ship anything in the show and still disliked Zutara, just from how both characters are to me it would take some serious warping of their personalities to make it work. Katara only forgives Zuko once he proves himself to no longer be a danger to Aang, only then is she on good terms with him and it's very much under the notion that if he decided to go back to how he was she would pummel him into the ground without hesitation.

Which might work for some people but didn't for me.

+1 it always seemed to me like people thinking Zuko was cool and self-projecting onto Katara, rather than taking into account what the characters were actually like.

I kind of like this idea, except I ship Zuko/Mai too strongly to see him long-term with anyone else.
