I like a house with a lot of windows, but that is too many windows, even for me. It's at the point where the entire place feels exposed, which just feels unsettling to me. I've only watched two episodes of HR so far, but looking at that house, I have to wonder if that feeling of openness/exposure is the point, like, narratively? Shane wants and craves openness while Ilya is guarded and feels too exposed without enough walls in place?

The basic layout of that house looks somewhat similar to the house that YTer Jenna Phipps and her partner Nick have been demo/renoing on their channel for the last two years, except their place has basically the maximum amount of windows I would actually want (also, you can't tell from the photo, but the view from inside is breathtaking):

Yeah, I close my window coverings at night and would not want to live in a fishbowl!

Yep, there is definitely a narrative theme of darkness & hiding vs. sunlight, so I think the look of the house is symbolic in a lot of ways. If you keep watching you'll notice Shane is the one who's constantly paranoid about getting caught/seen.

Ah, that's right, I'd forgotten that was the dynamic. I watched the first two eps like a month ago and then got busy, so I want to go back and rewatch them before watching the rest. I remembered that Ilya was the one who was more emotionally distant in the beginning and Shane was the one who obviously wanted it to be more between them, which made me think Ilya was also the secretive one and Shane was the open one. I forgot that it was the other way around.
