Setting all the baggage with the author aside...

...this doesn't even look, I don't know, I just don't see anything that would draw me in to even watch it or care about it. It doesn't look bad, it just looks like the same thing redone. Why would I want to watch this when I could rewatch the original movies?

I guess it might be worth it if you're really into the stories and want more of the books but meh. To me, it's just meh. This is an easy pass, not even tempting to watch. I think the original movies stand on their own, I don't have any want for more.
