Re: Negatives to Positives

I'm a highly anxious person so I tend to overthink and try to plan for unforeseen problems. For example, when traveling I've got extra clothing (and a change of clothes in my carry-on in case my checked in luggage gets lost), all the OTC meds, extra pads/tampons, my documents are quadruple-checked, hours of research on hotels done weeks beforehand and reservations made and confirmed, back-up plans for my back-up plans, emergency contact info written on paper in case I lose my phone, photocopies of my passport stored somewhere different than my passport, etc. etc.

It's the product of an over-anxious, control freak brain but to my travel partners I look like a super competent boy scout.

honestly not a bad thing, take pride in your planning. Aside from one poorly-planned convention, I always over-plan for travel, whether it's a quick overnight camping event or 3 weeks in Japan, and as a result, I'm never anxious while on the ground. I know where everything I need is, and how to fix it if something breaks (i.e. if I did actually forget something, I know how to replace it or get around it). It takes so much stress out of travel, so I can actually be in the moment and take pleasure in the experience. My overplanning is why my partner can consequently lower their stress, because every snag has been pre-emptively avoided and the worst thing we have to do is balance a long line at the autograph table at a con.
