Oh man, you must not have been in the fandom when Order of the Phoenix was released. Blaise Zabini, fan favorite who nothing was known about besides their name and being in Slytherin (even their gender was occasionally contested) was finally described as a black boy in OotP and the fandom LOST THEIR SHIT about how all their fanfic with him was ruined, they couldn't picture him as hot anymore, but wait guys maybe there was a mistake in the printing and JKR never really meant to say that he was black!

Anyway it was a time. Angelina Johnson was also black but nobody cared about her anyway.

How were the Patils' names racist though? Sometimes people say their last name is spelled wrong, but that's just ignorance or shit-stirring. Patel and Patil are both valid romanizations of the same name. Patel is just more common.

SA - Whoops it was Half Blood Prince where the Blaise Zabini stuff went down. It sure did go down though.
