Why local organizations always meet during the day. It's not just things geared towards retirees and SAHMs, either. Who has a FRIENDS work schedule?

Similar to local businesses. Everyone always says to shop local, shop local. I'd love to shop local, but they're open from 8-4, M-F.

ugh I have this problem with so many of the local environmental nonprofits always starting their events at 8-9am. I can understand early morning bird hikes because that's when the birds are active, but nobody needs to be at the barn an hour away to sort seeds at 8a.

in their case I think it's because it's run by retirees who can't conceive of anyone not being awake at 5am. they just don't interact with anyone of working or school age enough to consider other types of schedules. but then they also whine about how do they attract new blood to the club, why don't younger people want to come, etc, and I have to not shout because they're at work or school right now Debra!. I'm not young but I have a flexible schedule so I can work around these events, but I'm so not most people and I'm aware of it.
