Yeah, I'm trans and I must suspend my entire supply of disbelief every time there's a side character who just happens to be openly trans, instead of existing to teach a lesson about transphobia. Granted, I'm not saying there's a plethora of either, especially in the past year, but there was a distinctly rising number for a while. No bigotry or misgendering ever, not even accidentally by well-intentioned people who just didn't know and needed a quick pronoun correction? Lmaoooooooooo. But I would much rather have that unrealistic depiction in some things than (a) have every trans character be a walking transphobia lesson, or (b) nothing have any trans characters.
