I'm not really up to speed on what the controversy is, but then, I've only known of comedians performing in the Middle East for the troops, and at least one who did a mini-tour because of a special request by a prince. And all of those seemed pretty benign at the time. I suppose it would depend on who was running the festival, and why and when, before I could give a solid opinion.

But if it were one of those shady situations where just associating oneself with an event is basically endorsing whatever-bad-thing, I would probably judge. I've done the same with anyone aligning themselves with evil or just enabling it, and I don't care where they're from or what else is going on in the world. Because I don't look at things as either/or, and just because I might spend more energy on one thing doesn't mean I don't get to have an opinion on the other thing.
