It's ESPECIALLY frustrating when you make a generalization and point out that you're making a generalization that doesn't apply in all situations and yet someone STILL has to come in and go "Well, akshully 🤓👆" and point out that your generalization isn't always true.........

That is absolutely egregious.

I have some sympathy for the pedants because I don’t like the common tendency to over-generalize, often accompanied by an unwarranted confidence that one’s own experiences are universal.

But I also know that there are some people who seem to enjoy nitpicking as an activity in itself more than simply trying to helpfully correct someone’s inaccurate view of the world.
