Media You Change Your Mind On

Is there media you changed your mind on, one way or another? Used to love, now dislike or vice versa? I don't mean only like part of it. I mean you fully changed your opinion.

I was thinking about this show Ed that I used to love. Was the first lawyer show I watched, and may have been part of what inspired me to be a lawyer. But looking back at it, it is horribly sexist and dated. I tried to rewatch a while ago and couldn't make it past season 1. So much cringe.

Most TV shows I loved when I was 13, I look back on now and think "I can't believe I used to think this was so cool!"

Boondock Saints

I absolutely loved that movie as a teenager, but I couod not make it through it today.

Same with a lot of the View Askewniverse. There is just way too much sexism to be ignored, sadly. Mallrats used to be one of my faves but alas.

I used to be very fond of Chasing Amy and I’m a little afraid to rewatch it. Maybe best left in my adolescent memories.

I haven’t watched Boondock Saints in forever because I think I won’t like it anymore. I also have grown to really dislike most of the people involved in the movies so I’m already soured on it somewhat :/

I really disliked Knives Out when I first watched it. But when I rewatched it with my roommates, I totally enjoyed it and I’ve happily rewatched it since.

I think it was an expectations thing. I might have been expecting and hoping for a more straightforward Christie-esque mystery.

I loved House back in the day. I loved the characters, the drama, the nonsense medicine, ate it up. Read a blog that reviewed the medical realism (and made peeps super hero teams). Now the thought of it turns my stomach. He's just so cruel and I hate everything that pushes cruelty as a sign of intelligence. He puts people through so much pain but by the end he's magically right so it's OK. No. I hate it.

I used to be a hard-core N'sync girlie but I've come around on the Backstreet Boys. Give peace a chance <3

This seems to be a common one, but I loved Home Alone when I was a child, and now I can't stand to be in the room if it's playing. I wish I didn't know so many people who like to put it on TV as background noise at their Christmas parties.

Same. I can enjoy it as slapstick but not much else. Kevin's family is horrible, and despite it taking place at Christmas, I hate that it's a cherished Christmas movie.

Aww, I have fond memories of Ed! If you're right about it being sexist, I don't think I want to know, lol. I'll just stick to my memories of it as a charmingly quaint comfort show.

I really hated most of S1 of Schitt's Creek. I disliked all the characters and found the humon wildly annoying rather than funny. But then the show gradually won me over, and eventually I realized I couldn't even be mad about S1 becase the fact that all the characters suck in S1 is in fact The Point, and the later seasons wouldn't be nearly as rewarding and effective if the characters weren't so obnoxious at the start.

I would have quit reading the Captive Prince series about ten different times during book one if it weren't for how thoroughly I'd been told by fandom friends to stick with it and trust the process. They were right, I ended up loving it. It gave me one of my favorite characters of all time, and one of my favorite canonical ships of all time.

Free Willy was a staple growing up but I can't stand watching it. There's the ethics of keeping whales in captivity, and then there's the scene where dozens of kids bang on the glass...

I thought season one of Severance was interesting, but season two just kind of bored me. I had hopes it wouldn't be a style over substance thing, but... it kinda looks like it.
