What? Really, I don't think I've encountered many fandoms where they think their characters nicknames are too cool for them.
Goose is my fav though, so maybe I might be a little too middle of the road myself to know any better.

nayrt - It's not just that they're too cool, it's people who know how call signs work know that real nicknames would be a lot less dignified sounding and probably would have a rude origin.
