Genuinely the only thing I think of when reading a watersports fic when they are on a couch is that they will never get the smell out of that cushion.

Is this a common thing, watersports smut on a couch?

It isn’t kink of mine, so I don’t seek it out in fic, but sometimes it shows up incidentally. I’m pretty sure all of those scenes have been set in a bathroom or outside of a home.

I think I'd need the whole ruining the furniture thing acknowledged. If it's not acknowledged, it's going to take me out of the scene, but even just a brief, "-and oh god, they are literally going to have to replace the couch after this, but the relief feels too good, and it's already happening, he can't stop it," kind of thing is enough.

Honestly, now that I'm thinking about it, there's something kind of hot about the idea that they keep ruining the furniture and having to replace it*. Not like, over and over, but just like, two or three times in the beginning, while the whole thing is new to them and maybe they haven't really talked about it properly and they haven't learned to plan ahead yet. Especially if someone who knows their space is like, "You just replace the couch and now that old chair is gone, too? Did they not match or something?" or like, "You and [other character] both got new mattreses this month. Was there a two-for-one sale or something?"

Man, I've only read like two watersports fics I thought were hot, I really didn't think I had a piss kink, but ngl, "They're so into it (and so in denial about being into it) that they accidentally keep ruining the furniture," might have awakened something in me a little bit. lol

*Obviously this only works if the characters are tolerably well off.

Nah man. I'm tolerably well-off, but I have a $4,000 leather couch and anybody who pisses on it is going straight to the dumpster.

But do you also have a watersports kink?

(Anonymous) 2026-04-04 01:28 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, any watersports is happening in the bathtub.

AYRT - Okay, but, 1. the characters can have whatever couch one wants to give them, and 2. the fact that the characters' kink is so strong and satisfying said kink is so good that they can't stop themselves from ruining expensive furniture about it is...part of why it's hot? YMMV, obviously, but I'm just saying, "My couch is $4K so I would never" isn't a particularly relevant argument here. My couch was $50 at the thrift store and I, too, would never, because I don't have a personal, real life watersports kink. But my characters might, and their couch costs whatever I want it to for story purposes.

This is so specific. I love it.

It isn't really my kink but it happens a lot alongside kinks I enjoy so I have read my fair share of watersports and I can honestly say I have never read one where it involved a couch. Mostly they were outdoors or in the shower, with a few in bed (where, funny enough, they had mentioned a waterproof mattress cover and changing the sheets after the scene).

mercifully I have never read a watersports fic that wasn't outdoors or in a shower/easily cleaned space without soft surfaces/furnishings, because YEAH.
