I grew up ADORING the Aladdin cartoon on Disney channel and tried to rematch it recently but couldn't finish...the art and animation style is too ugly. I guess I didn't notice as a kid? I understand they didn't want to spend the money on the original animators/artists of the movie, but it's kind of a waste because the stories on the show are fun and they came up with some cool original characters (Mozenrath, Mirage).

I admit I didn't watch every single cartoon based on their movies, but the animation always seemed like it was downgraded.

I found this a problem with the Hercules series as well. I didn't rewatch the film for quite some time after its release, but remember watching the animated series now and again when it was a thing.

Re-watching the film made me realise the animated series was a rough approximation of the film, but very shoddy by comparison. I mean, I don't expect the exact same quality, but you definitely notice the difference, so I get you.

Honestly, the animation was all over the place depending on which studio they had animate it. While everything was overall on model, in say, "Plunder the Sea", it had very straight pose-to-pose, and weak ins-and-outs in a way which frankly mucked with the pacing. OTOH, "The Lost Ones"? *Chefs kiss*
