I must admit, I giggled a little at "And then the doctor came along and was hot". Funny because it's true that that seems to be a primary motivation for a lot of companions...

That was a beautifully incoherent secret.

And I thought I was the only one who thought that.

My plotbunnies tingle.

A vampire companion would be fun, because once you got her weaned onto Time Lord blood humans would taste like dishwater. And since there's only one source of Time Lord blood left in the universe, she'd better not kill him. Well, not more than *counts on fingers* twice more, anyway.

Potential spoilers:

Not really related to the secret (it just reminded me of this), but I've been kind of cracking up lately about the sort of things people have been coming up with when asked what they'd want in a new companion. I've read a few threads on the topic recently, and besides "no more romance please" the main things that keep coming up seem to be "male", "alien", and "trying to kill the Doctor". Not necessarily all at once but, still...

Sounds good to me. A companion with an agenda. Who doesn't fall for the Doctor.

"Trying to kill the Doctor" would be interesting. I know that the show has already been there with Turlough but there's other angles they can come at that one from plus the show has evolved anyway so it wouldn't be exactly the same.

I gave up on Who way back in S2 because Ten really started bugging me. I'm going to give Eleven a chance, but if the companion is from 21st century Britain, I'm going to find it veeeeery hard; it worked for the reboot because it gave the audience a grounding in the series, but it seems that now every single companion has to fit that mould. I want her to be an alien or from a different time. Or a lesbian, that would be cool.

She's from 21st century Scotland. That an improvement at all?

Dude. My initial thought was about how awesome it would be if with Eleven (who looks so young and, to some people, attractive) they went back to this incarnation being romance free/asexual. But a lesbian companion would be almost as awesome. Or just as awesome. I'm torn, because now I'm not sure if having a lesbian companion with an asexual Doctor would be a cop-out (instead of a straight woman not falling for him) or the best thing ever.

Wait, there was Donna. So I'm gonna go with wanting both. Carry on. XD

I think the doctor having a vampire as a companion would be awesome. Especially if the Doctor had to feed the companion. It's not going to happen, but hell that's what fanfic is for.

Considering that vampires are millennia old enemies to the Time Lords I highly doubt one will end up a companion.

I don't really understand the rest of what you're trying to say. I need to get me some Amy Pond icons though.
