Not really related to the secret (it just reminded me of this), but I've been kind of cracking up lately about the sort of things people have been coming up with when asked what they'd want in a new companion. I've read a few threads on the topic recently, and besides "no more romance please" the main things that keep coming up seem to be "male", "alien", and "trying to kill the Doctor". Not necessarily all at once but, still...

"Trying to kill the Doctor" would be interesting. I know that the show has already been there with Turlough but there's other angles they can come at that one from plus the show has evolved anyway so it wouldn't be exactly the same.

Oh I know all that, see my amusement was really stemming from more of a "Fandom, get out of my head!" thing, as these threads starting popping up around the time I got really heavily into the Davison era (which would also go with the "no romance" thing now I think about it). "Cracking up" may have been a bad way of phrasing it in retrospect, as it sounds like I was mocking people when really I was just getting a kick out of the fact that a whole bunch of people, when asked what they wanted in a Doctor/companion dynamic, were basically coming up with elements which described my favourite era and my favourite companion.

Davison era is one of my favourites so it's probably why I jumped on your comment! I genuinely think it'd be an interesting storyline to explore again. I'm a bit romance jaded too so anything would be a nice change, especially if they went for something as morally dubious as that.

Then again, the Doctor has had a lot more being a jerk moments than usual lately so someone trying to kill him might actually end up being more welcome than we think!

Me too, me too. It's just so the opposite of the "my mundane life kinda sucked then the Doctor came along and he was hot".
