You're wrong and you should feel bad because 99.9 percent of all AH is basically bad original fiction with canon names slapped on in order to have smut, garner readers and attention. In that order.

And I know your fandom, Twitard. Your clever use of that picture doesn't fool me because AH isn't actually a popular genre in BtVS fandom. But it is the pre-dominant genre in Twilight fanfic. So GTFO.

Yeeeahhh... I never got the point of that. Or the point of, say, "Avatar but in highschool!" fics. I hate 'em. It's just...I mean... Dude, what's the point? If you take away the things that make the characters who they are, then they're not really the characters anymore. I'd rather read an in-world fic with ten OCs than an "What if the X-men didn't have powers and were just normal people?" fic.

Besides, Spike-vampire=William. Heck, the romantic-puppiness of William is the reason that Spike, even with a demon in him and no soul, is still a hopeless romantic. You take away the demon bit and...well, I mean... Why not just read Gilmore Girls fanfic then or something?

This reminds me of how Clueless is a reimagined version of Emma. Yes, sometimes AH can be done very well and provide great entertainment. Personally, I prefer canon, but I've enjoyed AH as well.

Wow, I wasn't expecting so much disagreement to this secret, lol. I actually get frustrated b/c so much of the fic I find in my ships in various fantasy/supernatural fandoms is all-human, and I'm just not into that.

The problem I have with all-human is that so much of the characters' personas are based around their being non-human. I just can't imagine a circumstance that would make Buffy the person she is without her slayer powers... they're just so much a part of her and have had a huge impact on how she's evolved over the seasons. Same with Spike and his vampirism--more so, in fact, because while Buffy still has her mortality, she more or less acts her age, whereas Spike's been around for 100+ years (most of which he's spent as a soulless killer) and I just can't think of any way for that kind of experience to translate into a mortal 30-something human life. I mean, I'm sure you could write them both as having really tough lives and Having To Grow Up Too Fast and I suppose you could have Spike be like... idk, a reformed sociopath or something but it just doesn't carry the same pathos or gravity to me.

That said, I've no doubt that there are some very well-written all-human AUs out there, but they don't appeal to me b/c don't feel like Buffy. But to each their own, I guess.

I seriously prefer canon-esque fic, because I think all-human Buffy isn't tough enough a lot of the time. But then there is nautibitz and a few others to make me realize that there's good stuff on all sides. (And bad stuff, too, but why dwell?)

I have no problem with all human au's. I just...don't read them. :/ Am I bad person for that? I don't think so. Are you a bad person for liking them? No. The REASON I read fanfic is because Spike is vampire and Buffy is the slayer. Period. Otherwise, to me, I am just reading about two random people who's names happen to be the same names of characters I like. I like the darkness, I like the good vs evil, I like the bloodlust and the pain and suffering and...
