Transcript – Star Trek

I don’t understand conservatives who love Trek and thinks ir supports rheir views. Trek has always been left, socialist, and "woke." Trek has always pushed the boundaries of its time.

As someone who came from a center-conservative household growing up:

It's because they like the diversity that isn't going to cause them any immediate issues like.... discomfort. They enjoy a sci-fi setting without trying to swap it around to current political and social issues.

Although I think I would be remiss in adding: Conservatives today are NOT the conservatives of 70 years ago. Not even the conservatives of 40 years ago. Politics in this era have a tendency to run from super-tame-easy-going all the way to pretty-sure-you're-in-a-c*lt-my-dude.

It just wasn't like that before.

In its time, it was "woke" and egalitarian. They touched on racism, sexism, and issues of race. Back then, it was a screaming red flag for a lot of people. But in this era, ST:The OG, is actually... tame. To put it mildly.

A lot of "woke" topics from the 1960-90's are considered par for course now. I don't think Conservatives bat eyes to it because it's just... not the same as what we see as "Woke" in 2026.
