Yeah, this is closer to my experience in the USA.

In the 90s and early 2000s? Sure, you got plenty of people wearing crosses for non-religious reasons, especially if they were a bit goth-leaning or into hip-hop.

But these days, it seems a pretty safe bet that they identify as Christian, especially if they’re anywhere near celebrity status (where you know your choices will be routinely analyzed). Maybe they’re lapsed and it’s a treasured heirloom.
