(prime example is Sonic x Sally/Amy/Shadow/etc)

I've been in fandom for 30 years at this point, I'm too old to care about ships and if shipping is the only thing you think about, you're missing the point of the series

Oh no, another Sonic fan! Thankfully the Sonic x Sally vs. Sonic x Amy seems to have died down...

To be replaced with Sonic x Amy vs. Sonic/Shadow!

I would probably find ship debates interesting if they actually discussed characterization, each characters' goals, themes surrounding the ship, etc.

But instead most "ship discourse", especially around the latter two ships, is based solely on which pairing really has the smaller age gap, which one is more socially just, and other assorted pissing contests. (That do not convince anyone except people already shipping the pairing and gullible kids)

As someone who dislikes both ships, all I can do is let out an aggravated sigh and press the back button when I see it.

yeah I dislike both ships and get extremely frustrated by the lack of tagging on tumblr when it comes to characters who are actually not in the picture or fic being tagged. If I want to look up Knuckles I should be able to look him up without running into sonadow, thank you very much
