Well, first of all, no, it's not "low effort trash" just because better things exist or because they were kids' books, etc.

Second, your personal disdain for the series does not necessarily mean anyone was "suckered" into thinking highly of it.

Whenever I see secrets like these, I just wonder if the OP just wants to punish everyone for ever resonating with a series because the author just happened to reveal herself as a piece of shit.
