AI has officially come full stupid-- er, full circle.

Worried your e-mail sounds too much like AI? Well, now you can install an AI Chrome extension to... de-AI it. "Sinceerly" good news for anyone scared of being mistaken for an AI bot. Probably.

Anyway, I had a laugh. Still not touching this with a ten foot pole (and not just because I don't use Chrome).

Out of curiosity? What browser do you use? I used to use Firefox, but I switched to Chrome a couple years ago because I prefer the design, it just seems easier to use and more intuitive.

Firefox became a shitshow, so I'm using Waterfox... which sounds like a hilarious parody browser name, but is actually a Firefox fork. There are multiple browsers based on Firefox's original design but Waterfox stuck out to me.

I don't think AI is inherently bad (just a tool but some people are evil about it) but I worry about potential privacy issues so over the years, I've had to dump a few browsers which have become more integrated with AI, including Opera, Brave, and Tor. Waterfox seems okay so far.

I do use Chrome at work though, since most of our sites are designed to work best with it.

I genuinely didn't know there was spin-offs of firefox. That's cool. I may have to check them out. I do like that on Chrome I can save my tabs and reopen them and that it remembers my preferences. I like that I can use adblock and youtube sponsor block. I like using xkit for tumblr. And I just like the look and feel of it.

I use UBlock origin to block all the ridiculous shite on YouTube and use it both on Firefox *and* Chrome.

DA

Just to add another voice: I used chrome until it killed uBO compatibility, so I moved over to FireFox, which then started adding AI features, so now I'm with LibreWolf, a FireFox fork that prioritizes privacy and keeping AI out.

I still have to use chrome at work and the inability to block ads drives me insane.

And I block ads just fine on Chrome with adblock.

uBlock Origin. It blocks everything. You can specify what parts of a website to block, what functions of a website to block (not just ads). It even blocks ads on youtube. It's amazing. In January, Chrome put out an update to block the uBO extension specifically. It still works a bit, but not at full functionality and I can't live without it.
