Re: Giving blood

(Anonymous) 2026-04-28 02:14 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm surprised that people here (I guess people in the USA) can donate blood every 8 to 9 weeks. In Italy where I live women can donate every 6 months and men every 3 months. I thought it was more or less the standard everywhere. D: The more you know

BTW I donate very 6-7 months and I've been doing it for mmmh 15 years (I had to pause it for a few years because I was living abroad though). I usually try to reserve it in day when I know I will not be menstruating but alas every fucking time I donate and then my menstruation cycle starts THE SAME DAY of the donation, be in later or sooner than anticipated. I have a curse, I don't know...
It's become easier now than I'm used to fasting. A few years ago waking up and not eating first thing in the morning was torture so doing donation or other blood exams was quite tedious. I always had an headache and stomachache afterwards. Nowadays easy peasy I can fast for 20+ hours with no problem and having the blood drawn does almost nothing to me if not a little bit of tiredness for one day.
