I've been in fandoms where I've been sad about something not existing so I made it myself, was it as popular as the fandom fave stuff? Of course not, but I found a niche with some other like-minded people and it was fun.

And on the flip side the people in my own corner that incessantly whined and berated others for not doing what they wanted were blocked by my small group as well, it's almost like being an asshole doesn't get you friends anywhere.
