I'm a teacher and my coworkers frequently talk at lunch about the books they've been reading. They are all voracious bookworms and finish dozens of books in a month. I feel embarassed because I'm just out here reading smutty fanfic in my free time, if I'm reading outside of texts for class.

I read a lot of books but I don't look down on anyone who can only manage to read one or two a year. I enjoy reading but I understand that for some people it can be a bit more of a time commitment or life gets in the way, etc. Do stuff at your own pace.

Also I read a lot of fanfic too so like I'm not at all going to knock you for that OP. :)

(Plus personally I tend to find that the people who brag about their book numbers very rarely retain the actual stories they've read, like one of my co-workers can inhale books faster than me and she actually does retain the information, the others... do not lol and it's very obvious).

Same but with BL C-novel fantranslations. To be fair though, they're often not any worse than all the popular booktok dark romantasy slop, quite a few probably actually better.

I’m always reading during my lunch breaks and sometimes it’s a book on Libby, but other times it’s a fic on AO3. I always feel a little embarrassed when a coworker asks what I’m reading, especially when they express admiration because they think I’m improving my mind, but really I’m just re-reading a spicy SasuNaru fic.

I don’t think there’s anything wrong with reading what you like in whatever quantity is right for you. I’ve gone through spells where I’ve read dozens of books in a month, but my memory sucks, so I can’t remember most of the stories unless they really stood out.

Watched the Blues Brothers movie again and in retrospect I don't know how I missed that Elwood is supposed to be autistic the first few times around.

Just a guy going on adventures, eating dry plain bread all the time, letting his brother do all the social tasks, having all kinds of in-depth mechanical knowledge, and everyone who knows him is just like "yeah that's how he is" without it being some dramatic traumatic thing.

I think he's better autistic rep than a lot of modern characters.

Fine as a headcanon, but idk that he's supposed to be autistic as such, especially not as a conscious writing decision. I think they were just intending him to be a weirdo freak.

There are some ensemble cast tv shows where I either dislike or don't care about all but three or four characters. And yet I keep watching because those few characters grab me enough that I remain interested until they are gone. I don't know why that is.

My biggest fear about Avengers: Doomsday is that it will zero in on and torpedo all the remaining characters and plot elements I still care about, just like Endgame. And just like Endgame, fandom won't even let me be unhappy about it.
