I see a lot of this in some corners with Julian Bashir from "Deep Space Nine". "He dated women in canon, he's clearly not into mee!" Never mind that the actor himself has explicitly stated that he did play his character as being into Garak/anyone regardless of gender, or that it was the '90s and of course shows weren't going to be as open about LGBTQ+ characters on screen as easily, or anything..

And of course, that complaint often goes in hand with the< "Men just can't be close friends anymore, they've always goota be gay!" nonsense.
