Just as Good

What are some remakes or covers that you think are equal to the original? We always talk about how bad remakes are or how some outshine the originals. But what about the ones that aren’t terrible yet aren’t better than the original?

I really like the live action Aladdin. I think it holds up to the original at the very least.

I've only recently watched the original Whose Line is it Anyway, the British version. I love it. I honestly love all three versions (I do think of the American revival as its own thing).

I think the Bad Wolves cover of Zombie is equal to the original Cranberry version. I genuinely really love both versions. Just overall a great song.

The White Stripes Seven Nation Army is great, but I think Skald cover is equally awesome. I may slightly prefer the Skald version.

Disturbed's cover of Sound of Silence is so different to the original but is equally great.

I thought the True Grit (2010) remake was better than the original.

Horror remakes have several that are better than the originals for me. Like The Thing (1982), Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1978), Crazies (2010) and The Fly (1986)

Honestly, lots of songs because I usually prefer the first version I listened to.

I like Alien Ant's version of Smooth Criminal.

I prefer High Society to The Philadelphia Story.

I love the movie The Fugitive (1993).

The 2015 Daredevil TV show is so much better than the 2003 movie that it almost feels blasphemous to mention the movie.

I think the TV show The Flash (2014) is better than the TV show The Flash (1990).

I'm somewhat interested to see what they do with the upcoming Murder, She Wrote movie with Jamie Lee Curtis, but very skeptical of them making a The Holiday (2006) TV show.

The Echoing Green's cover of "Safety Dance" is literally 1:1, both are amazing and in my permanent rotation.

...and just having this text box open changed my youtube algorithm so I'm not adding my other three examples. Yikes.

the Rob Zombie version of Blitzkrieg Bop is just as good as the Ramones
the Peter Jackson King Kong and the Steven Spielberg West Side Story are just as good as the originals
