Do you like video games?

(Anonymous) 2026-05-11 01:13 am (UTC)(link)
What genres?

Single player, 3rd POV, story rich, preferably stealthy. I'm also a graphics snob and I canNOT with bad voice acting. My wife prefers builder or civ type games.

I love video games; except for stuff from the library, they're the most cost effective entertainment there is. I payed $5 for a game I played for 200 hours.

Just Tetris and FreeCell.

Do those count? Because I do play a bunch of stuff like that. FreeCell, Bubble Blast, Squares, Strands, various games on Flight Rising. Didn't think those counted as videegames, though.

I love the idea of them, and i love the worldbuilding in some. I'm just not good at them, very uncoordinated with my hands, so I never really got into them.

I love platformers. Shooters like Overwatch or Rivals. Any "friendslop" I can play with my sister. Lighter RPGs.

Of the classic arcade fast-twitch types, I liked Centipede, Millipede, Tempest and Gyruss (and to a lesser degree Galaga). I preferred pinball, go figure.

Now? Puzzling games. Sure, many of them replicated games that used to be on paper (acrostics, logic puzzles) but I also enjoy the sub-genre of escape games.

I have dabbled in non-action MMORPGs like (first) Kingdom of Loathing and (later) Fallen London but at some point they became more tedious than fun to keep up with.

Very much so :) MMOs, simulations, and management games are my favorites.

Ehhhh... yes-ish. I used to be huge into video games from about 1996 to 2017-ish. After Mass Effect: Andromeda (which wasn't a terrible game imho, but it was so underwhelming and knowing the absolute shitshow it was behind the scenes kills it even further), I practically stopped playing them entirely; not having enough free time due to work was also a factor. Nowadays the only games I play are Warframe and Palia. :/

When I do play games, it's usually MMORPGs (though I quit FF14 cold turkey), life sim-ish games (Animal Crossing, Palia, Fields of Mistria), and the occasional action-adventure game.

I love video games! I prefer single player open world RPGs but also love racing/driving games. My current game is Euro Truck Simulator 2 and it’s incredibly good and fun but also very challenging for me. It’s rather old now (2012 iirc) but the graphics are still fantastic. I love driving all over Germany because I used to live there and some of the roads are familiar as are the routes.

I just realized I could go on forever about this game LOL I love video games as immersive escapism and this one is just the most recent I’ve played that really ticks all the boxes for me.

Open world in general, but I do have some outliers. Katamari Damacy is just fun all around, I'm only annoyed that the third game which came out in modern console times (the first two were PS2, the new one was PS5??) was not larger to compensate. Ace Attorney, good game as visual novels go, I play it and like it but there's literally zero skill involved. I mostly play open world (AssCreed, Yakuza, etc) but make exceptions for good story or good replay value. And fandoms - Musou series cribbing all the fandoms was a score for Koei if you ask me.

I do! I started with platformers, as a kid, and don't really care for them much anymore, though there are old ones I would enjoy going back to. I love RPG, strategy, and strategy RPG games and I'd say that's where I've spent the majority of my gaming time over the years-- turn based or hacking and slashing through dungeons, I find both styles of RPG combat fun depending on my mood.

I also really enjoy (almost) anything that lets me farm, fish, forage, and perhaps flirt. The peak there would be the Rune Factory series since that ALSO lets me fight monsters (ditto Coral Island on having dungeons to battle through), but like, Harvest Moon was my introduction to this style of game, and now Story of Seasons. I like Animal Crossing and now I'm getting into Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream (doesn't let me farm or fish but I DO get to matchmake for little guys and I get to design things). Sometimes I do like just spending a little time in a world where I do not kill things, and it's just kind of silly and cute. I like having a balance of like... here's the game I play where there's hours of story and I'm fighting monsters/demons/an enemy army, and here's the game where I just pop in for ten minutes at a time for a relaxing break.

Puzzle games are also good for that.
