... but it didn't?
Robby didn't adopt Jane Doe. He just have found some will to live in saving new life and watching abandoned kid, the same as him. At least for a moment. And we don't know if it helped him at all in a long run. Also it was a nice circle of death/life in pedes room. This room was used for tragedy from episode one of season one. The hopeful thing to use it for is kids. Because it's pediatrics room.

The ending of this episode showed more about people needing community if anything too.

+1, nobody is keeping that baby? I'm very confused as to how this fits "babies ever after" where the characters stop doing anything interesting to be cozy married hets and have one million babies together all named after their more interesting dead friends.

Right?
Like, the last thing anyone on that staff needs is the responsibility of an infant, and the characters and writers are smart enough to know that. He just got comfort from BJD.

This isn't Grey's Anatomy where every woman except for Yang has at least 2 kids, or wants kids, or suddenly learns they can't have kids and is sad about it.

AYRT
Exactly! Babies ever after is a specific trope. Doctor (!) thinking that alive and healthy child is a good thing isn't it.
