But another part of this that doesn't really get discussed is how yes you can be as nice as you like, but that still won't guarantee interest in the thing you want to make. And I think more people who are into an unpopular fandom thing need to understand this, because there seems to be this bizarre expectation that if you do everything right people will flock to your creations, which... isn't true.
What's popular in a fandom is so for a reason and if you create something oppositive to that you have to be able to sit with the fact that you'll get less interest in what you're making. It's not fair, but it is reality.
